Helena Vicente is a PhD candidate in Sociology at ISCTE. She holds a master in Communication, Culture and Information Technology, and focused her thesis on the (in)visibility of black professionals in Portuguese television. Her research interests are black people in Portuguese society, racism, colonialism, gender disparities and media studies.  She is a member of the Grupo EduCAR, Mulheres Negras Escurecidas and Together2Change.

As a member of GrupoEducar, Helena Vicente co-curated the exhibitions Education through stone and Seeing the city through their voices that will be shown from April 21 – April 25 at Cooperativa Árvore.
