Towards new models of Commons in Europe
Still on the small door the notion of shared good, Commons, makes its way to European life. More and more, initiatives and exemplary practices shows up to stop processes of privatization of shared goods in order to dedicate them to real needs of the communities – who would take care about the given resource and manage it. The initiatives from below bring large amount of energy in order to proclaim Commons as an important factor of future life and as an important political factor, as well. We will debate about the ways in which the Commons are currently conditioned. How Commons function through collaborative initiatives of culture and artists? How is it used to share knowledge and technology through self-organized communities? How does the practice of co-housing function, and collective caring about agriculture and natural resources? In what sense could Commons accelerate democracy, firm solidarity and could it be seen as a new commune? At last, in the time when European institutions are constantly losing credibility and efficiency, could Commons become new political alternative through which the citizens can articulate demands, in order to solve urgent political issues?
